Jacaranda Cottage is a refuge for young women aged 16-24 years who are homeless or at risk. The young women come from background of family breakdown, poverty, domestic violence, abuse or neglect. Jacaranda Cottage provides a safe and supportive place for young women to deal with these issues and move forward into independent living. This is done through a holistic living skills and personal development program.
Our vision is to impart hope, facilitate restoration, and celebrate transformation in the lives of our clients.
If you are considering applying for accommodation or making a referral on behalf of a young person here are some things to consider.
Firstly, Jacaranda is a medium term refuge where young women can stay for up to 12 months. Our housing capacity is a maximum of four people at a time.
Secondly, we have two expectations of each person prior to being considered for accommodation at Jacaranda. These expectations are that each young woman has a source of income and is engaged in a day program (school, tafe, uni, work etc) that occupies 4 - 5 days per week and up to 5 hours per day.
Lastly, we are not a crisis accommodation service and we do not staff 24/7. We are unable to accomodate young women who are in situations high need or crisis. We consider young women whose high needs have been met, resolved, and have a realistic managament plan prior to their stay at Jacaranda.
If you are making a referral please download the documents below and return via email to email@example.com
